Warning: Large amount of text ahead.

Note: This page is an overview of the whole family and therefore doesn’t have enough information about each individual character for them to be used properly in a duel. It was designed more of as a preview of the characters than anything else. For all the important information that I couldn’t squeeze into this page you will need to look at the characters’ model sheets. Which, sadly, aren’t done yet.

Special Note: The weapons used by the Nomura family are “alive”. They are still static objects with no ability to move or speak, but they do have souls and unique personalities. As a basic form of communication most people will get an impression off of the weapons, a sort of projection of the weapon’s mood. The Nomuras understand their weapons so well that they can have simple conversations with them. This isn’t to say that the Nomuras have a better way of communicating with their weapons than anyone else does, just that they know how their weapons think. Rumor has it that some people can actually hear the voices of the weapon’s spirits and understand what they’re really saying. For more information on weapon spirits and how to use them check the random explanations page. For more detailed information on an individual weapon check the model sheet of the person who wields it.

Family Name: Nomura

Family Business: Performing kyogen plays.

Goals: Promote the family name. Further the prosperity of the family.

Members:
Gen (standing in front) is the third child of the Nomuras. He is a well balanced and adaptable fighter who uses a halberd named Regis. He’s the only one of the family who considers himself a professional duelist, which means he does most of the fighting. Gen loves to read and has quite a library of knowledge at his disposal.

Airi (standing to the right) is the second child of the Nomuras. She is a swift and graceful combatant who uses a katana named Hideki. While she likes fighting she is not allowed to duel very often because of the risk of injury. On top of being an actress Airi is a shirabyoshi, a type of Japanese court dancer.

Takeshi (standing in the back) is the first child of the Nomuras. He likes to fight defensively and wields an arbalest named Baldric. He is protected by bullet proof armor and an even more bullet proof pavise named Alexander. Since Gen is afraid of firearms Takeshi is the one who has to fight duelists who use guns. Takeshi has a beautiful singing voice and enjoys wooing women with his talent and charm.

Tamiko (standing to the left) is the forth and last child of the Nomuras. She is extremely strong, allowing her to use her two handed mace named Kom. It should also be noted that she is pretty much fearless. She doesn’t see much point in fighting, but does so because she hates being left out, which is good because she can damage heavily armored opponents that Gen can’t even scratch. Tamiko focuses most of her energy on becoming a good musician. She plays a few different instruments, but her favorite is the Koto.

Katsurou (not shown) is the father of the siblings. While he dislikes fighting he does practice archery and has a yumi named Chou. His primary talent is as a writer. He writes all the plays the family performs and has a passion for writing poetry.

Alison (not shown) is the mother of the siblings. She uses snaphaunce pistols, a whole lot of them, though she avoids firing them as much a possible because of Gen’s phobia. Alison is very dedicated to her family and likes to keep an eye on her children even though they’re all adults now. She is an avid collector of art, weapons, and especially artsy weapons.

Weapons:
Regis is a brilliant but egotistical halberd. He is the oldest and most experienced of all the weapons, his spirit dates back to the days of the Roman empire.

Hideki is a katana who is very sharp both mentally and physically.

Baldric is an arbalest who loves to taunt his enemies. He finds it a pity that they often don’t understand him.

Alexander is a pavise and thus Baldric’s partner. He is fairly level headed and a lot more reasonable than Baldric is.

Kom is a giant mace and kind of an oddball. For some reason he seems to annoy the other weapons when he talks to them. People usually find him to be pretty friendly though.

Chou is a yumi, basically a Japanese long bow, who is very serene. She talks a lot less than the other weapons and never speaks during a fight.

History: As with the other information on my characters it’s best to check their model sheets if you want the whole story. Katsurou’s is the best place to start. Anyhow, here’s the short version of their backstory.

Nomura Alison, formerly Captain Alison Danette Grayson, was an infamous pirate who ravaged the coasts of Europe and China. That is until there got to be to many contries and ships looking for her. With only a few options left, she decided to hide out in Japan for awhile. Once there, however, she would not return to her life of piracy as she instead got married and “settled down”. Alison and Katsurou had four children who all became actors in Katsurou’s newly formed acting troupe. The troupe traveled all around Japan and put on a number of popular shows. Since the Nomuras are competitive by nature and Gen was interested in dueling, they also became involved in the local dueling leagues where ever they went. Recently they have joined the SDL so that they might test their skills against more challenging opponents.

Narrative Style: The Nomuras are fairly light hearted. I’m not planning on having them involved much drama or tragedy, though honestly that’s somewhat out of my hands depending on what other duelist do. Hopefully I’ll be submitting a more hardcore duelist sometime later.

Fighting Style: The Nomuras mostly fight one at a time, obviously four on one is a little unfair. Gen is their default duelist, and Katsurou and Alison aren’t considered active fighters. Duelist can request to fight one of the family members in particular, but the Nomuras reserve the right to send whoever they see fit. The Nomuras do occasionally fight all at once and other members of the family, including Katsurou and Alison, will get involved in a fight if it starts getting out of hand. A list of team tactics are given on the miscellaneous model sheet. Individual fighting styles are of course given on each character’s model sheet.

Battle Record: W: 0 L: 0 F: 0

Status: Unavailable to duel. I won’t be able to duel until I get those model sheets done. Also I’ll be entering Airi into the Miss SDL pageant so I’ll be pretty busy with that as well. Please be patient (all five of you reading this).

I wanna duel them. A one versus four. =w= Cool characters, but I'm pretty sure bulletproof items came around until the late 20th century. Too make it more realistic, Takeshi's shield could be made of thick metal, but that'd be very heavy.

Nah, bullet proofing is a fairly old practice. Though, I will admit I don't know exactly when people started making armor like that. And as far the weight goes he's really very strong. Besides look at what the youngest sister can wield.

wow! i never expected to see the real Nomura Takeshi made into a samurai game character! well, he HAS played in some period dramas, so...lol! if only it were true. this is very cool. nice picture.

While it is true that I used Nomura as the family name because I knew of the real Nomura family of actors, I was unaware that Nomura Takeshi was the name of a real person. Sort of a cool accident.
